It’s so nice of you to stop by. It’s even nicer of you to follow directions so sweetly and “Start Here!” just like the button said. You are either the curious inspector type – or you’re so compulsively Type A that the thought of reading something out of order completely compelled you to click this, “Start Here!” page. Either way – come one, come all!
I’m so stinkin’ glad you’re here! (Full disclosure? I am what some would dub a hellish nightmare combo of both personalities above… Cheers!)
I’m Diana Carter. You can read a little bit more about me here, but for now, just know I’m probably the messiest person you’ll ever meet. I’m not messy in the my-house-is-a-wreck-and-I-am-recylcling-my-underwear-because-I-haven’t-done-laundry-in-weeks way – in fact, I’m a little bit OCD about where things go in my house and how things are put in the dishwasher. It’s just I’m kind of messy in the my-life-is-sometimes-so-scattered-NBC-should-make-it-a-sitcom type way.
But you know what? I try not to take it too seriously – and that’s what this place is about; laughing at the mishaps.
You know those people in your life who you’re just you – I mean the real you – in front of? We’re talking the version of yourself who doesn’t have to wipe the sleep out of your eyes before coming down, bra-less, for breakfast in the morning. I mean the people who can take the side of you that says, “I don’t really feel like I should do fro-yo today. My stomach’s been on the fritz lately,” and not get squeamish.
They’re the type of people who you’re just really comfortable around. (Maybe too comfortable!) They’re the type of people who will cackle alongside you when you’re half-laughing, half-crying after you overflow your toilet and a river of pee water is surging through the ceilings of your brand new house.
Well that’s what we’re about here. Finding and being those type of people.
Being the real you – the one who doesn’t get embarrassed by the reality that life isn’t perfect. And laughing at ourselves quickly – because no one gets out of this whole life thing alive. This little sliver of the Internet is about being the truest, most real and unfiltered versions of ourselves. It’s about taking our masks off, being who we really are and being the shade of ourselves we were created to be – for better or for worse. It’s about realizing that sometimes, we’re off-color and wonky – but giving ourselves permission to embrace the reality that perfection is a lie.
And occasionally (read: always), we’ll make it our goal to laugh about it.
My hope is that through sharing my disheveled life with you, you would accept the invitation to be yourself – in this space and right where your feet are too, you know? I want you to feel so comfortable that you just come in and plop down – without cleaning up or worrying whether or not you swiped on deodorant this morning.
Bring the messy, boo.
Let’s lay it all out on the table and pick up each grain of our disheveled lives. Let’s hold each shard up to the light and squint our eyes until we can look at each piece and see nothing but a chaotic beauty.
It might take a few tries – but I promise you, we’ll find it.
Laughing with you,
